From ndinesh at Ellacoya.com Wed Aug 1 14:10:12 2007 From: ndinesh at Ellacoya.com (Dinesh, Nirmit) Date: Wed Aug 1 16:01:23 2007 Subject: [ptt-users] Bad Types exception for integer data type Message-ID: I keep getting Bad types exception when sending SOAP Request for complex server elements of type 'int'. Everything works fine when the server element (again complex) is of type 'string'. Any insight on why this might happen? I am using TestMaker 4.4 version For example: body.Target("ABCService") body.method ("getABC") body.addParameter ("id", Integer, "1234", None) ... ... ... This is the code to use operation getABC which will take 'id' as an input and respond with a SOAP message, This fails!! Body.Target("ABCService") Body.method("get123") Body.addParameter("id", String, "ABC", None) ... ... ... This is the code to use operation get123 which will take 'id' as an input and respond with a SOAP message. This works fine!! Thanks much! I believe I figure out why it didn't work for me (I was basically doing exactly what you did). It seems I need to restart TestMaker after I make file changes. I'm not sure why, my guess will be that the change is not pushed to the TestNode or something. Anyways, it works !! awesome. I did translate your sample in groovy and attach it here, hope it helps. I have two more questions (I've read the documentation but I couldn't find the answer, maybe I miss it) 1. is there any way that I can clear the output (mainly Console Output) without restarting TestMaker?. This is not a big deal; I can deal with restarting the UI when the output gets cluttered, but it will be nice to be able to clear it. 2. Is it possible to start a load test scenario without using the UI?. What I'm getting at is integrating the load test into a build system down the road. I am trying to build some test scripts using testgen4web (ie Recording). The app I am testing makes extensive use of dynamic menus - when a header tab is rolled over a javascript is run which users innerHtml to create the next level of menus. What testgen4web seems to do is record the click on the ultimate submenus item, but not the mouseovers of the higher levels. When the test is replayed, no onMouseOver is generated, so the submenu DOM objects DON'T EVEN EXIST when the script is replayed (neither in FireFox nor in TestMaker) Does this sound like something I am doing wrong, or is it just a limitation of the tools? I believe this is a current limitation of the tools indeed, and I do not see any way to add a custom 'test step' in TG4W to perform the "mouse over" required. However the HTMLUnit library that is used to execute the TG4W tests in testmaker *does* support simulating mouseOvers on arbitratry DOM elements. Therefore it might be possible to workaround this issue, at least for the execution of the test withing TestMaker, by manually modifying the jython script resulting from the TG4W import. (Note that I have not tried this, and you may need to modify the testmaker class that actually invokes HTMLUnit, as I do not think you can directly access it from the jython script) And while playing your scenario in TG4W you could add 'delay steps' during which you would manually move the mouse over the required element... but that is really suboptimal, I know. HTH, PS: the selenium-ide plugin is also being studied as an alternative way of recording test scenarios, and it *does* support mouse-over actions -- Olivier Dony, Denali s.a., "Bridging the gap between Business and IT" Rue de Clairvaux 8, B-1348 Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium Office: +32 10 43 99 51 Fax: +32 10 43 99 52 www.denali.be Legal Notice: This message may contain confidential and/or privileged information. TestMaker provides three ways to create a unit test that may be then run as a functional test, load/ scalability test, and service monitor: Use TestGen4Web to record a Web application, Use the Network Proxy Recorder to watch a browser interact with the host, and write a unit test using one of the many supported languages. The TestGen4Web utility does not support Web 2.0 and AJAX very well. It does not model the operations in a JavaScript that may include making asynchronous calls to the back-end. I would recommend that you transform the TestGen4Web recorded file into a Jython script (use the Tools menu -> Import TestGen4Web) and change it to emit the HTTP calls to the target host that the JavaScript in your app is doing. Although you may need to learn Jython or one of the other support languages, you will not have to get a PHD degree. We are investigating a way to use Selenium and/or Rhino to record a test, transform it into a TestMaker test agent script, and then run it in the TestMaker environment. With our current workload it may be a few months before this is done. We would be happy if Xythos wanted to provide an engineer for 2-3 weeks and we could get this done right away. -Frank On Aug 31, 2007, at 11:29 AM, Pascal Pelous wrote: > Hi Richard, > > I thought Pushtotast would help me automating some of my web > testing but > TestGen4Web doesn't seem to record much of what can be done with our > application and I tried with very basic operation.
