Hi Gordon,

I've actually seen this before. I'm curious, are you testing an ASP .NET
application?

Thanks,

Aaron.

Subject: [ptt-users] TestMaker 4.4.1b throws exception when recording script

I am a new subscriber to this list. Please forgive me if this issue has
already been addressed elsewhere in the PushToTest mailing lists or
documentation.

I was attempting to record a test script from a browser (IE 6). The browser
is set to use the script recorder proxy server @ 127.0.0.1:8090. When I
started to record the script, TestMaker displayed the following exception:

Proxy recorder server started on port: 8090
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger
(com.bitmechanic.maxq.ProxyServer).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
Exception in thread "MaxQRequestHandler #0" java.lang.NullPointerException
 at
com.bitmechanic.maxq.SwingMain.reportOutsideException(SwingMain.java:305)
 at com.bitmechanic.maxq.RequestHandler.run(RequestHandler.java:243)
 at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

The browser displayed a progress indicator as if to show that it was trying
to download a web page for over a minute before I clicked TestMaker's "End
Recording" button. No content was displayed in the browser window.

The Java "command console" window that started the GUI application displayed
the following information:

TestMaker
Version: TestMaker 4.4.1b
Number: 73
TOOL Version: 1.4.4
Build Date: February 28, 2007
OS Name: Windows XP
User Name: gss
User Home: C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator
User Directory:C:\Program Files\TestMaker
Class Version: 49.0
JVM Version: 1.5.0_11

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information concerning
this issue. Thank you!

Gordon Smith
